I went to my first food allergy support group meeting last Thursday. It was nice to be in a group where everyone could relate to the things I was feeling. One mother, the one who founded the group, spoke about her son’s hospital stay and the things she learned while keeping her sick child free from his food allergens. I’ll be honest, some of the things she did like wipe down everything in the room, including the entire crib was something I never thought to do. My daughter was in the hospital for three days in March and I never once wiped down the crib when my son was visiting. It never crossed my mind that another child ate peanut butter sandwiches for lunch while in the crib. As always, with this and any food allergy you are always learning.

There was a lady who was also able to sell jars of Sunbutter for $3.40 a jar! I pay $5.99 at the grocery store.

Next month a representative from the Epi-pen company is coming and will be selling some fanny packs and videos to the group. I’m most interested in the video. I only had one and the preschool ended up keeping ours. It went through three teachers and I’m not sure where it even ended up.

Other than that, things are still pretty quiet here. I am very much looking forward to next month’s meeting.
