Our Peanut-free Journey

About

My name is Amy and I am a SAHM to my son Alex and my daughter Isabelle. Alex is allergic to peanuts and has been since he was 20-months-old. As I’m sure most people are aware, peanut allergy can be fatal. We are always educating ourselves and others about his allergy. I believe that God knew what he was doing with Alex. He is an amazing little boy. He knows that he is “different” and has accepted that with an amazing amount of grace. Our daughter has a 40% higher chance of having a peanut allergy due to her brother’s allergy. I pray that she does not have it. Not because we couldn’t handle it but because it is life threatening. Even when you do everything right sometimes things happen. This is our journey.

I came across your website one day and was very impressed. I suffer from a severe peanut allergy to the extent I cannot be around peanuts. I have had a few bad reactions… and almost died from it 2 times. I am 29 years old and the allergy is hard to deal with somedays. I can relate to your story and the struggle of decisions you have to make. I do not have children yet. I pray that they will not carry this allergy when I do. So many people do not understand the awful things peanuts can do. Some are so insensative, and sometimes plain mean. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Being able to relate to others out there who struggle with this allergy makes me feel like there is a support out there for those like me. Thank you so much for sharing your journey, it is an inspiration.
